I was feeling a little displaced this morning, due in part to a disturbing breakfast conversation and also because of the unnerving feeling that i've somehow forgotten to do something important. After changing money at M&S (I didn't know they had a bureau de change, and with one of the best rates around too) I went to my favourite coffee spot to regain a little composure. I remember reading Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go and writing down a few thoughts about it while sitting at that spot by the window, in the first few days alone in Birmingham when daddy had just gone back and I was still staying at the backpacker's place. I had a hot chocolate and a piece of carrot cake then, but today I had an ice blended latte instead. Yeah, the weather has changed a little. My weakness for carrot cake has not, though. My coffee, though it wasn't very good, was free. The cashier girl keyed in a loyalty card redemption free coffee by mistake, so I had a free coffee. This has served to further entrench my affection for the place. It gave me a little sense of completeness, as though it were some sort of coming full circle. I guess i'm just weird that way.

I went for a slow jog today, to all my favourite haunts. The flowers are out, and they sure are pretty. I've been so used to seeing all the trees bare, dry and dead looking, black and snow-covered, that now that some of them are starting to bud, indeed flower; profusely! it comes as a little bit of a surprise. When I come back, everything will be green. Smashing =)

I want to sit on the grass and have a picnic, play guitar and sing songs. Unleash my inner hippie.

This used to be a popular song in primary school, for me, my polka dotty days in st. margaret's.

What a wondrous time is spring
When all the trees are budding
The birds begin to sing
The flowers start their blooming
That's how it is with God's love
You want to sing, it's fresh like spring
You want to pass it on

touch my cold heart and renew Your love for me, Lord! things are not as dead as they seem.

Au revoir! I'm off to Paris tonight!
